Sony Gains Access to IP Addresses of Geohot Visitors

As most are aware, Sony is bringing out their huge legal guns to shoot down iPhone hacker Geohot over his jailbreaking of the Sony PS3, apparently Geohot managed to gain the funds required to cove the legal costs of fighting Sony from Microsoft, as reported (here)

Well according to an article over on Gizmodo and by way of Wired, it appears that a federal judge has come down on Sony’s side and ordered that the IP addresses of all visitors to Geohot‘s website since January 2009.

Apparently Sony has also been allowed access to from both Google and YouTube along with Geohot’s Twitter account. I’ve visited Geohot’s sites on many an occasion and I don’t even own a PS3, so I’m not really sure what visitor IP addresses will actually prove for Sony.

Not too sure what all this means as I’m not up on US law and such but if Sony wants the IP address of everyone who’s visited Geohot’s pages will Sony be coming after those visitors next in their quest to stop people doing as they please with their own equipment, PS3 or not?
