Android 3.0 May Be Honeycomb and Not Gingerbread
Well if you are an Android fan thinking that the next version of the Android OS will be Android 3.0 and named Gingerbread then apparently you are mistaken, as word has it Gingerbread will be an incremental release such as 2.3 or 2.5.
So what about Android 3.0 you may ask, well according to an article over on Intomobile by Blake Stimac, Noah Kravitz of Phone Dog states Google is apparently “strongly leaning” towards Honeycomb being Android 3.0 and that Honeycomb would be optimised for tablets.
So what of Gingerbread, well apparently Gingerbread would be for lower end smartphones while Honeycomb would be for tablets and what’s known as the superphones, much like Android 2.0 and 2.1 being the lowe segment operating system while Android 2.2 Froyo being the high end OS.
So there you have it even though like most things this hasn’t been confirmed, but it is looking like Honeycomb will grab that Android 3.0 crown rather than Gingerbread.
